The day before their wedding, Joanna and Robert both fled, separately, for their own reasons. Joanna disguised herself as a man and joined the army as a scribe, only to find her commanding officer was the groom who also ran. As they march north, Robert grew drawn to his sharp-witted scribe, while Joanna struggled to keep her identity hidden.
